A new FAA Airworthiness Directive has been issued, which has several new requirements which may affect you as Robinson pilots and Self Fly Hirers.
The main item is that, as of the 5th July 2011, any Robinson helicopter flown must have a Main Rotor Inspection for skin debonding and separation along the leading edge before the first flight of the day.
This inspection can be performed by a licensed pilot, but the pilot should have received engineering training to understand the process of the inspection and what to look for.
Pilots will also need to be shown the new procedures for entering the completed inspection into the Aircraft Techlog.
Sloane Helicopters Mallorca is holding a training day on Monday 4th July, from 13:00 until 17:00, where you can come to our hangar and receive the following training:
Pre-flight Main Rotor Inspection
Aircraft Techlog Entry for completed Inspection
What to do if blade is unserviceable
