ICAO – JAA PPL (H) Licence Conversion

If you hold an ICAO Helicopter Licence, then Sloane Mallorca can quickly and easily convert it into a JAA PPL (H).

Eligibility:

Hold an ICAO PPL (H) or higher.

Over 17 years old

If you have under 100 hours

Ground Training Requirements

You are required to pass ALL 7 ground exams:

Aviation Law
Human Performance & Limitations
Navigation & Radio Aids
Meteorology
Aircraft Principles of Flight
Flight Performance & Planning
Communications PPL

Flight Training Requirements

Training as required to meet the JAR-FCL training syllabus criteria (including the 5 hours Instrument awareness training).*

Pass the JAA PPL (H) Skills Test

If you have over 100 hours

Ground Training Requirements

You are required to pass only 3 Ground Examinations:

Aviation Law
Human Performance & Limitations
Communications PPL

Flying Training Requirements

Training as required to meet the JAR-FCL training syllabus criteria (including the 5 hours Instrument awareness training).*

Pass the JAA PPL (H) Skills Test

Additional Requirements to consider

JAA Type Rating

* if you are interested in taking the JAA PPL (H) conversion in a different helicopter than that you are currently certified on you will need to complete the JAA Type Rating Course as part of the conversion.

Medical

You’ll need a minimum of a JAA Class 2 Medical; we can happily arrange such a medical in Mallorca with a local AME.

CAA Radio licence

You may need a CAA Radiotelephony Licence. We already have a fully approved Radiotelephony Examiner on site in Sloane Mallorca.
